being a pirate

i never knew being able to read chinese was an asset - it's not that hard to be a pirate online, but it would be much easier if you could read chinese =)

gotta love the immorality of some chinese websites =D

on budget airlines

since flying by air was of comparable price as that of taking a bus down south to spore, i decided to give airasia a shot - i have to admit, the prospects of reaching spore in a fraction of time i used to spend was pretty attractive..

well, on the whole, the airasia flight i was on wasn't that different from those i took in europe - but of course, there were still some things worth noting =) for instance, there were a couple of interesting announcements when i was on the flight..

before we got off the ground: "smoking is prohibited in the aircraft", and, mebbe as an afterthought, "there are smoke detectors in the toilet.."

when the aircraft started cruising: "this aircraft adopts a 'no outside food' policy, food and drinks are available at reasonable rates.." rm3 for a cup of hot milo? yeah right.

when the aircraft experienced turbulence: "we are going through a bad weather, would all passengers go back to their seats and put on their seatbelts.." never knew that weather can be quantified - it's so hot right now, i wish i could have a rain soon =)

before the plane touched down: "passengers are reminded that the stealing of life jackets is a serious offence.." -______-"

hmm on hindsight, mebbe there were similar announcements on the ryanair and easyjet flights i took to various destinations in europe, but since i could at most understand half of what they were saying (cos when i flew to germany, they used german on top of english; to france, french; etc etc), i may have missed similar announcements =)

also, on both my flights, i reached my destination 15 minutes earlier than expected - "expected" being 60 minutes long - hmm do speed tickets apply to aircrafts also? =) haha not that i'm complaining, i'm more than happy to be able to reach my destinations earlier =)

weekend excursion

will be in spore for the weekend, yayness =) i'll be taking a flight from ipoh to senai cos the cost of a budget airplane tix is comparable to that of a bus tix, so hopefully i land there in one piece eh =)

new member

ordered it online last sat, delivered to my doorstep on thurs. yay =)

this replaces my previous 3-year old laptop, which lags like mad. sigh. should have had the foresight to buy more ram then, which would have extended its lifespan by a year or more. but now, i'm not complaining anymore =P

world cup finals

"it's once every 4 years" - my perfect excuse for staying up late =) it was the only match that i watched from start till end, there were some other matches that i watched but got bored / interrupted before i could finish haha.

since the teams i supported exited well before the semis, i watched the game without favouring either team.. thought italy was the better team before the game, but after watching it, felt that both teams were quite evenly matched. thank goodness for the attacking football, especially in the first half, else i'd be nodding off..

slept at 5am and eventually woke up at 2pm. for once, i managed to have an excuse to lie in bed past 9am, my usual (forced) waking time =)

breakdown of tripos results

after bugging my dos twice, i finally got my results emailed to me.. after eagerly downloading the file and quickly reading through the row of digits and percentages, i felt my ego expanding, but it got pricked really quickly after that. ouch.

biggest surprise: getting quite good results for chem. left one or two portions (stupid thermodynamics) blank, but still got overall score of ~78%. without chem, i'd be kissing my first goodbye.

biggest disappointment: of getting shitty scores in QB (aka maths). thot it was THE SUBJECT that was supposed to pull me up, not chem.

whatever lar, next stage is deciding on what subjects to take next year..

random bits

haha been following the same ritual everyday for the past few days - wake up, eat breakfast, read papers, play games, eat lunch, play games, slack abit, eat dinner, slack more, and sleep... feel kinda sian already hahaha =) my hols are always like that - i will look forward to it when it's approaching, but once it starts i wish i would have more stuff to do to fill up my time MEANINGFULLY..

thank goodness my parents just applied for a broadband connection - i can never live on dialup anymore i think - but of course the broadband here is nowhere as fast as the one i was used to in college, nor can it ever compare to singapore broadband speeds.. still, it's a marked improvement over dialup =P

haha i realised i still haven't posted pics from my rome trip, should have done it before i left for home cos it's much faster uploading pics using the connection i have in uk.. nvm lah i'll post it 3 months late, when i eventually get back to uk =)

shall go read a book now.. after i finish answering the 5 blinking msn windows =)

back in the uk

hopefully will spend more time mugging instead of slacking haha
